History
The idea of Deaf Christmas Business Show was born in November 2011 after which the very first Deaf Christmas Business Show took place in December 2011.
The event was originally created to do something about underemployment and unemployment of Deaf people.
According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission Report in 2010, the proportion of Deaf and Disabled people experiencing barriers of access to education, employment and setting up businesses is a much higher percentage than the national average. We took the report seriously and decided to motivate Deaf and disabled colleagues, friends and associates to think outside the box and work on themselves to improve and embrace working culture.
We achieved a great deal of interest as the event proved extremely popular. Deaf and disabled interest in business activities and work in general increased and we were presented with a proven track record of success in getting deaf business set up and running.
The event is always a great opportunity for Deaf, hard of hearing and disabled people to network and be motivated, with fantastic entertainment including a DJ playing great music for those who like to dance. For the kids, Father Christmas every year distributes lovely presents suitable for different age groups.
